Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct – Wayne Baseball Association (Revised 3-31-17)

In order for your child and every other child to have a fun and successful baseball season, the Wayne Baseball Association requests that you honor and abide by the following guidelines. It is our intention to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for all players and fans who attend practices and games.

1 . I/we will expect myself and my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, officials and board members with respect regardless of race, sex, creed and ability.

2. I/we will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials. Negative comments on social media will not be tolerated.

3. I/we will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.

4. I/we will help my child enjoy the baseball experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with park maintenance, or providing transportation.

5. Any discussion with a Coach or Assistant Coach regarding playing time or position will not be held before, during or after a game or practice. This preferably will not take place at the field. These conversations should be held privately or on the phone. A 24 hour cooling off period will be required before speaking with Coach or Assistant Coach. If you continue to feel that your child is being treated unfairly, you may speak to a Board Member regarding your concerns.

6. At no time, will a parent dispute or argue with an umpire regarding a call that has been made. Yelling or harassing an umpire from the bleachers may be cause for removal from the park.

7. Do not coach your child from the stands. Nothing is more frustrating for players than to be told one thing by a Coach and another by a parent. Please recognize your role as a parent.

8. Any use of profanity by a parent will call for immediate ejection from the park.

9. Coaches are to be informed of your child’s absence as soon as possible.

10. Any parent or spectator that does not abide by these guidelines may be asked to excuse themselves from the park. If they refuse to leave, law enforcement may be called in. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in forfeiture of the game that the parent or spectator is associated with.

11. All players will respect the equipment and field. Thus, equipment i.e. bats, helmets and etc. will not be thrown.

12. All players and parents are expected to participate in fundraisers.

13. There will be no parents in the dugouts or on the field during practices unless permitted by the Head Coach. There will be no parents allowed in the dugouts or fields during games unless called in by the Coach for an injured player. Parents may be Assistant Coaches if the Head Coach and board approve.

14. These guidelines will be followed throughout the year for all home and away practices and games.

15. Violations of this Code of Conduct will result in the following disciplinary actions:
1st Offense- Verbal warning from a Board Member.
2nd Offense- Written warning and one game suspension for your child.
3rd Offense- Suspension for the child for the rest of the season with no refund of fees.
